The bedroom is our relaxation area. We sleep and rest there, and if it is not cleaned frequently, it can accumulate mites, bacteria, and dust that can affect respiratory and general health. For this reason, to clean the bedroom like a professional and improve your quality of sleep, there are some steps you can follow, and you will see the positive benefits in your life.
1. Ventilate for at least 15 minutes
It is recommended to air out the entire house before starting to clean since ventilation allows fresh air to circulate and eliminate accumulated odors, which makes the environment more pleasant and healthy.
Additionally, ventilation helps eliminate the concentration of contaminants in the air, such as dust, smoke, and allergens.
2. Pick up and organize the room
Before starting to clean, picking up all the stuff in the bedroom is recommended and putting it in its place. If clothes are lying on the floor or the bed or furniture, it is much more challenging to clean; it will take much longer, and you will not clean the surfaces correctly, so in a few days, you will notice that everything is dirty. On the other hand, organizing the bedroom helps reduce the clutter and chaos in the environment, which can affect your mood and well-being.
3. Make the bed after airing
Making the bed is a good practice in general, but it is even better if you make it after airing it. This way, the air helps to clear mites and dust from between the bedding and it will be much cleaner and free of allergens. Additionally, a well-made bed transmits calm and harmony, which will help the room look much cleaner and tidier.
4. Vacuuming, focusing on the carpets
Vacuuming is ideal for removing dust and dirt on the floor, under furniture, and carpets. They can become breeding grounds for mites and other allergens if not cleaned regularly. Remember that if there are stains, you should treat them first.
You can do the same cleaning for furniture, such as armchairs and chairs, that you may have in your room. Take care of their upholstery by vacuuming the entire surface, starting with the corners. This way, you will catch all the hair and dirt possible.
5. Clean from top to bottom
The correct way to clean and remove dust is to start with the upper furniture and finish with the lower ones. It is an effective way, and following it to the letter will prevent dirt and dust falling on the furniture you have already cleaned. This way, you will not do double work, and it will be much easier to remove the dust that has fallen on the lower furniture in one go.
6. Clean the lamps, frames and doors
Now it is the turn of all the other objects. Lamps, frames, doors, switches, cupboard tops, skirting boards, etc. All of them also accumulate dirt and dust and should be cleaned. Lampshades should be cleaned with a dry cloth to remove dust, and then water and mild detergent should be used. For doors and skirting boards, follow the same procedure, but instead of detergent, use an all-purpose cleaner or mild soap and warm water.
7. Finish by cleaning the floor
Mopping the floor should always come last. It is important to remember that regardless of the type of floor, you should avoid abrasive products or strong cleaners that can damage it. It is always recommended to sweep and vacuum carefully and then prepare a mixture of white vinegar and warm water if it is a wooden or parquet floor. Use a soft microfiber mop to avoid damaging the floor.
In some houses, it is also expected to find tiled floors, even in the bedrooms. Clean them using a mixture of vinegar and warm water with a mop.
